Medical marijuana has, once again, failed to make it into Illinois with a vote of 53 for and 59 against; this despite the fact that when the bill’s sponsor, Lou Lang, discussed the bill with other representatives last year, 92 of them said something along the lines of, ‘This is a great bill. I hope you pass it.’
Lang plans to resubmit the bill for consideration in January, just prior to the swearing in of the new General Assembly; if that attempt fails then, he says, the bill is dead in the water.
So the message seems to be: medical marijuana in Illinois isn’t off the agenda yet, just don’t hold your breath…
