Arizona Medical Marijuana Laws

Well, what a roller coaster ride that was! But it is now official:  Prop 203 came back to win by 4.421 votes, a lead that is set to grow as the last votes are counted at the beginning of next week, so Arizona is the 15th state to legalize medical marijuana.

Proposition 203 makes it legal within the state of Arizona for patients with one of a number of approved medical conditions, including cancer, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s Disease, glaucoma, Crohn’s disease, and multiple sclerosis to possess up to five ounces of marijuana a month. Non-profit dispensaries will be established and regulated by the state. For patients living 25 miles or more from a dispensary, home growing will be permitted.

I have a medical card from California and had to move to Arizona due to my job transfer. I had a dispensary that was willing to accept my out of state card… well they closed the business and moved to another town which is too far for me to drive. I was wondering if there is any dispensary that would be willing to accept my CA recommendation? I do not want to go get an AZ ID, because I am always moving around due to my job, & I do not have the $$$$ or time to apply, wait,… pretty much all the stuff that AZ makes you do to qualify… I am already a qualified patient. I live in Phoenix 85008 area. My license is current and up to date until late April of next year.

Thank you for your time. If you need my contact info please reply to this message and I will then give you my email address. Thank you again!!!!!!!!

      Dr. Sam,

I am an epileptic due to a head on car collision. I have been prescribed many different drugs (Marinol, Keppra, Lamictal, Dilatin and several others) with nothing seeing to work with the problems I have and when I smoke Marijuana, no problems occur along with taking my medications while smoking Marijuana.

Being in a study, report, EEG’s being done along with several other ways trying to help myself with seizures with supposedly a number one Neurologist (Abou-Khalil at Vanderbilt Medical Center) has not been able to help me and when I smoke marijuana, problems do not seem to occur.

Please contact me so that I may learn of “possibilities” and be of help.

      Regards,

      David Herold

I need help. I hurt my back in 2008 by falling of the top of a ladder and have had problems since.

Then in 2009 I put my back out trying to help move a popup camper into a garage. I hurt all the time. I have been to a doctor and a chiropractor once each. The doctor just wanted to put me on pills and the chiropractor wanted me to come back on a daily basis for adjustments. He gave me one and it made the pain worse.

I do not qualify for state assistance and can not afford insurance costs. So , I only go to the doctor if I absolutely have to. That being the case I do not have medical records for three years. Can someone please help me I do not know what to do?

I do not want to be on pills all my life and I have to be able to function so I can take care of my family. I am desperate.

    • Samuel says:

Hi in my readings I have seen that some Doctors will start you with them and set up a records for you. Also you only need records that go back 1 year.

I had open heart surgery back in August 2010. And still to this day I have discomfort in my chest. And some days its painful. I can’t stretch without it feeling like my chest is being torn. I have no feeling at all on the inside part of my left breast also. There are days that my chest is really tight and even days where my scar is extremely tight. I still have to be careful with lifting certain things also. With this said is this something that would allow me to get a mmc? And if so where would you recommend me to go to see a doctor to get a mmc?

  • Daniel P says:

I have read though alot of this site and seen many comments. I live in Az. and bottom line I want to know how I go about getting the card. I can get doctors approval just what is involved. I mean do I get a written letter from him or a priscription and where do I take this Information?

  • mayna avila says:

to holly, there is a clinic on montezuma & carlton i believe called PCPSP, LLC 888-506-2553, they will take ur info, will need some medical records, they charge $200, for examination, help with applying and recommendation for mmc…. so good luck! if u have a dr that is pro mm, and believes u cld benefit from it, then u can forgo all the above otherwise try them… hope it works,,, i too have been leaggly declared disabled, due to my chronic pain, RA, fibro and pinched nerve.. so i am hoping i can get approved as well… i have 4 dr’s.. so far 1 has objected to writing a recommendation because its amind altering drug, but is ok with me taking, oxycontin, and vicodin which has me dependent on them and they dont even work as well…
    again best wishes…

Hi, I’m 59 Years old, all of the cartilage in both of my knee’s has been destroyed Which causes me excruciating pain! I’m in (my option) too young to bee in this much pain most of the time!

My quality of life has taken a huge hit! I’ve been on pain killers for at the very least nine years! All its done (is caused Me to be a legal pill addict they’ve had me on 7 +Methadone 10mg’s several pills every few hrs plus Oxicodone 30mgs/ several times night & day.

Plus Alprazolam 2mgs day and evening this junk has side effects & too much longer could do nothing good for my health!

This is why I’m asking for help, someone has to know a better way than this! My son and his best friend don’t use so they don’t know how to acquire this.

I haven’t tried any since 1971. I would like to see if it would alleviate this pain, by trying SOME THC IF IT WORKED IT COULD CHANGE MY LIFE F0R THE BETTER!

The more I read on the subject. The more I’m sure I’m going to have to try it. This seems to be the only way to resolve this issue. I would prefer to test the medication that’s of the highest quality, if it works magnificent! if not I’ll be back where i began not a gratifying out come, “Such as life”

If You know of a physician in the Orlando vicinity, it would be a big advantage as I don’t know where to begin to track down such a physician. I would be forever in your debt! thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Best Regards
    David King

P.S. If you are able to assist in said matter please Reply ASAP.

    Parkinsons is on there
Who Would Qualify to Receive a Medical Marijuana Card?
A “qualifying patient” is defined in Proposition 203 as a person who has been diagnosed by a physician
(a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, naturopathic medicine, or homeopathy) as having one of the
    following debilitating medical conditions:
    Cancer
    Glaucoma
Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus
    Acquired immune deficiency syndrome
    Hepatitis C
    Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
    Crohn’s disease
    Agitation of Alzheimer’s disease
A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition that produces any of the following:
    Cachexia or wasting syndrome
    Severe and chronic pain
    Severe nausea
Seizures (including those characteristic of epilepsy) or
Severe and persistent muscle spasms (including those characteristic of multiple
    sclerosis)

and they can add to this list if the public demands it

this is a very very important page to look at

    http://www.azdhs.gov/prop203/index.htm

  • Mike says:

I get disability from the VA for Migrains along with Diabetes. Wonder if migraines will qualify?

  • Mike I do not believe Parkinsons will be a condition that will be allowed to qualify in Arizona for Medical Marijuana. I believe in Arizona you can only have terminal illnesses that cause much pain like cancer and aids. Its much stricter than other states like Cali, but we will have to find out.

  • great news for patients who suffer from chronic and terminal illnesses to have an alternative holistic medicine to help sooth the pain. It was a squeaker but I am so happy prop 203 passed

  • Chris says:

    YAY!!!!!!! SMART MOVE ARIZONA!!!

  • MIKE MITCHELL says:

I’VE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH PARKINSONS AND AM WONDERING IF THIS IS ONE OF THE CONDITIONS THAT WILL BE ALOWED TO HAVE MEDICAL MARIJUANA
