Montana Medical Marijuana Moratorium

In Great Falls on Tuesday night city commissioners hit the Montana medical cannabis community with a three-month moratorium on medical marijuana businesses within the city limits.

In support of their action, Commissioner Bill Bronson said that despite the 2004 public vote in favor of medical marijuana use “city government has the right to regulate where marijuana businesses will go.”

Only five members of the public vocally supported the 4:1 vote; that’s five voices out of the 100 at the meeting; twelve members of the public spoke up to oppose the move.  The commissioner who opposed the vote, Mary Jolley, expressed the view that the moratorium could prevent some patients from getting the medication they need.
