In a nail biting, roller coaster ride, Arizona became the 15th legal marijuana state at the end of 2010 with the passing of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act. In April of this year (2011) the Department of Health Services (ADHS) began to accept applications from qualified patients and caregivers.
As far as the Act itself is concerned, the Arizona Medical Marijuana website offers comprehensive information; nevertheless, as with all other medical marijuana states, the situation with cannabis dispensaries is, to say the least, hazy.
Medical Marijuana Dispensaries in Arizona: Situation as at July 30 2011
The ADHS suspended the dispensary and dispensary agent portions of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act on May 27, 2011.
Additionally, on June 29 this year, a US Department of Justice email was sent to all US attorneys. The memo reminded recipients that, “no patient or other user (of marijuana) is shielded from federal prosecution by state laws.”
As a result of this communication, together with pending legal action, the ADHS are questioning the legality of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act and will no longer accept dispensary applications, what happens in the future will depend on the outcome of legal action currently in progress.
NOW THAT I HAVE THIS CARD I NEED TO UNFORTUNATLEY FIND OUT WHAT TO BUY.
Great read, my friend!
