Cons:
1. Addictive
2. Short term memory loss
3. muscle weakness
4. respiratory illnesses
5. distorted thinking, trouble problem solving
6. loss of motor skills
7. increased heart rate & anxiety
8. Long term health concerns for cancer
9. Contains most of the same harmful substances as found in cigarettes
10. Increased risk of heart attack within an hour
11. Weakens the immune system
12. Increases likelihood for use of other drugs, i.e. Cocaine and heroin
13. Decreased judgment leads to accidents
14. Balance issues

Pros:
1. Controls nausea (benefit for chemo patients)
2. Controls weight loss (benefit for anorexic patients, AIDS patients, & Cancer patients
3. Reduces pressure in the eyes (benefit for those with Glaucoma, present medication loses its effectiveness after a short treatment period)
4. Reduces tremors (Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS)
5. Reduces muscle spasms (Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS)
6. Reduces pain (Cancer patients, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Neurological issues, Migraines,) Has an analgesic effect that seems to work as well as codeine and enhances the effect of other pain medication
7. May protect nerves from damage (MS)
8. Can control dosage, quick response to smoking
9. Only 3% addiction problem

I read this article on common sense ant it pretty much said that all people who smoke this "drug" are bad people who will kill anyone even you for a bowl... Is that all you got? c'mon. We must stand up and fight the war on harmless plants. Would if we can alternate the drugs for medical use to marijuana. You choose, morphine or marijuana. Who has the common sense now. We need to stand taller than ever, the wars odds are low and it has just begun, but we need to end the suffering of millions of americans being convicted of crimes that shouldn't even be a crime. Please! Stand up this is wrong in so many ways.

Amy,

I'm right there with you as far as your sentiments. I'm a wounded Iraq vet, and my conditions cause symptoms ranging from loss of appetite, inability to deal with stress, despression, and pain, just to name a few. I would benefit greatly from medicinal use of marijuana, because the alternative is what they are giving me now - upwards of 25 to 30 pills a day. Someday I hope to get away from the pharmacological nightmares and treat my symptoms with something a little more sensible. But that is an impossibility right now, because even though I am medically retired because of my injuries (received in combat, no less), I am still subject to the Army's stance on marijuana. If I happen to show up positive for it in any of my bloodwork, it gives them the reason they are perpetually looking for so they can cut out my benefits.

And Mark, thanks for your work writing here. I stumbled across it just doing some random surfing, and I'm glad I did. Keep up the good work, man, and I'll definitely be cming by here in the future on my regular rounds of the net.

Hello, I was wondering if your organization knows about > Presidential candidate Ron Paul and his stance of Medical Marijuana? > He wants to give personal liberties to all and go back to our > constitution as our foundation of law. He believes that those that > have medical conditions should be able to have access to whatever > form of medication they would want. Not only this but he wants to > end the War of Drugs and let people use marijuana even if they don't > have a medical condition. This would not only boom the marijuana > industry but it would also end violent conflicts with the law and > americans that smoke cannibas. Oh,....and I am not getting paid to > send this to you or anything. I am just trying to get the word out > about this modern day Thomas Jefferson. This is NO JOKE. This is > not spam mail or bullshit...I'm serious! Check him out. In fact > I'll give you some YouTube links so you can watch Ron Paul discuss > his plans and beliefs on this subject. If you like his ideas, > please endorse Ron Paul or just please spread this message of > freedom to your clients, affiliates, or other organizations like > yourself who's purpose is to help those in need with an alternitive > medicinal drug. Thank you for you time, - Brennan Here are some > clips for you to watch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8I7625eWDU >

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3SYWDkWyXA >

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DewQrvTgtY4 >

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0GJQ14_0po
