Need help in growing

[SOQUILII]

I've been trying to grow medical marijuana from seeds given to me by friends for over a year now, indoors and out, and I can't get them past the seedling stage. They just grow about an inch, fall over and die. I'm probably putting them in too wet soil and planting too late in the year <?>. I'm near Houston Tx and we get a lot of spring rain as well as moist summer heat; semitropical. Need suggestions.

I just received my medical marijuana card in Spokane, WA and I want to begin growing for myself. I plan to grow inside and probably use hydroponics. Have you heard of the book Growing Elite Marijuana? If so, do you think it is worth the price? Another question I have before deciding exactly what kind of system I'll need is concerning a particular strain's yield, the yield for a strain will be stated as say, 600g/m2, I'm assuming that m2 is meters squared, but how would one determine how many plants would occupy a square meter. Since I am growing only for myself, I wish to use the least space possible to cover my needs.
