To find the best medical cannabis doctor in your local area, post your requirements to our marijuana doctors forum.
If you do not have a Marijuana Medicine Evaluation Center clinic in your area, specialty wellness clinics may also have medical cannabis specialists at their offices. Look for the words holistic, wellness, or natural care in the office name. These types of clinics often participate in non-traditional treatments for their patients and may be able to help you with a consultation.
Medical marijuana has been through a long road of controversy, and the field and study still have a long way to go. Currently about a fourth of US states allow patients to take medical marijuana legally for various medical conditions. The scientific evidence keeps piling up in favor of medicinal cannabis, and many patients are seeing vast improvement in their symptoms with this treatment.
Studies have shown that medical marijuana can aid in reducing symptoms of terminal illnesses such as AIDS and cancer, by helping pain and nausea from treatment and also increasing appetite. Some doctors and researchers also believe that cannabidol can help anxiety, glaucoma, depression, arthritis, convulsion and inflammation. Each new study that comes out finds new possible ways medicinal cannabis can help those who need it.
If you would like to be evaluated by a doctor to see if medical marijuana would help you, ask your current doctor for an evaluation. If you have a condition where this medicine has been used as a treatment, your doctor may give you a recommendation to try medical cannabis.
In the states that have laws deeming this practice legal, there may also be medical marijuana doctors who have a specialty in seeing patients interested in obtaining treatment. Many argue that these doctors are the best ones to go to, if this treatment is what you seek. When researching doctors, look for those that are medical cannabis specialists—though before you go see one, you should already have a diagnosis and medical records from your regular doctor.
The patient card is becoming the favored form of identification for medical marijuana patients, as it is much smaller and easier to carry around than the recommendation letter. This more discreet form of ID can be shown at medicinal clinics to obtain medicine and has all the information necessary on it, including your photo and an expiration date.
To obtain a patient card from somewhere other than a clinic, you can go through the state. You will need to fill out an application in most cases and pay a fee check with your local county office to see what kind of identification is needed to fill out the application and obtain the medical marijuana card. Usually you will want to contact the local Public Health office in your county.
As more scientific studies keep being published, we will most likely see more and more doctors recommending the use of medical cannabis to reduce symptoms of many painful diseases. The controversy of medical marijuana as a treatment will decrease with time, as it often does with new treatments.
Using the internet to find a medical marijuana doctor is still the most common way. Directory listings may not give much information, but seeing which doctors trusted cannabis foundations like the Marijuana Medicine Evaluation Center recommend can narrow the list down. Call to make your consultation appointment, and you can be on your way to receiving treatment.

To whom this may concern,
I would like to schedule a appointment to go over my health issues. I’m sure that by know my medical records from Dr. Sunio have arrived and it can be confirmed that I suffer from multiple issues. However do to the fact that my insurance will no longer cover my Cymbalta, I find that my chronic shoulder pain and back pain have increased tenfold. Usually I could tolerate the pain with the Cymbalta but I would still be prescribed 120 Codiene TID PRN, 120 Somas TID PRN, 60mg BID 120 1mg Xanax PRN for the anxiety caused by the constant pain.
That is not including the hypnotics like Zolpidem for insomnia. Apparently my cholesterol is becoming an issue. The Celxa does help with the depression but does nothing for all the other issues. This isn’t a quality of life that I want. I don’t want to have to take a pill for this a pill for that, testosterone for something else. I’m only 29 I should be in the prime of my life.
I have been doing a lot of research and I would like to talk about the possibility of suing Cannabis to treat all my symptoms, and stop taking the Codiene, Soma and Xanax. From what I gather the side effects of those medications are serious and even addicting. As you know when I was put on Topamax for seizure I had physcotic episodes and became suicidal.
Brief history of reasons, I was raped at the age of 10 and was beaten and left for dead with severe back and neck pain. My depression is root of that. I suffer from hypogonodasim that messes with my hormones and screws me with pain and depression and libido. I suffer from seizure’s from side effects of some of the anti depressants and when I suffer extreme anxiety. My last seizure two years ago tore ligaments in my right shoulder and pulled ligaments from my back. I’m in constant pain. But I can deal with that, I can’t deal with the anxiety of insomnia. Not being able to shut of my brain is horrible. So my father in law said certain strains can help me with all those symptoms and soe other strains can help me without the high of codeine.
I have attached information about why I’m afraid of medications and expert opinion on Cannabis. So you know I have never done or smoked cannabis or any other drug. I’m not a junky on the contrary I want to take less drugs if one thing can help. From the certain Doctors that I have blogged from Northern and Southern California, tell me that because funding has been limited they can’t suggest a strand of Cannabis, however they have showed me research that Marinol does not have the same effect. If approved I wouldn’t want to smoke it, but actually use a vaporize for the THC.
So if you’re willing to talk about the possibility of prescribing please let me know. Or just let’s make an appointment for my pain, depression, anxiety and insomnia management. Just so you know I don’t want anything stronger than Codiene, I can function with Soma, but Flexiril makes me feel like I’m on Percocet, and I hate that feeling. I hate being in pain and not being able to work out to get back in shape. So please help I’m open to everything.
Like I said, I don’t want to be taking medication all the time. My father in law was the one that told me about THC as a possible source to treat my anxiety, depression, pain and insomnia. I just need to find a good Doctor in Tulare or Fresno County, California. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Business is less than sharp in Washington, CA, and especially CO. ‘Professionals’ barely return phone calls and often state that they take orders from NYC and London. Most of Denver is stoned, medical or not. Not good for productivity or quality service.
Every day, I am just more and more amazed at how far this country is coming with mmj. Really, who would’ve thought we would be here 10 years ago? Just look at California and Colorado. And I can tell you that things are really picking up in Washington state also.
If you are looking for medical marijuana evaluation in LA, see http://www.losangelesmmj.com. In the bay area, San Francisco MMJ. Get legal! Peace to all.
I started smoking marijuana occasionally during my sophomore year of college. It eventually became a daily ritual during my junior year, after I joined a fraternity. My life went to shambles. I was a great student and person before marijuana enterted my life, but after it worked its way in my grades fell dramatically and I was detached from reality. I wanted NOTHING but marijuana. I eventually had to drop out of that school to get my life back on track.
After I stopped smoking, my life began to turn around for the better again, and I have been extremely successful at my new school, weed free. Some people can handle it and remain successful, but others, such as myself, can’t. It’s entirely a personal decision, but my life is far superior without marijuana, and I am thankful I was able to kick the habit!

Hello anyone with a medical marijuana card. I need a few pointers, I’m new to the whole getting your MMC and I’m wondering who and where to go to, to get evaluated and receive my card with no hassle. I’m 20 years old, I have insomnia and nausea/vomiting and I currently live in Oxnard, California. I really really really want to be evaluated and receive my card just so I know I’m safe and ok while smoking and carrying my herb. Please, anyone. Thank you for your time.

If you live in San Diego the best place I have ever been to is Total Health Club. I went last week and they said they had just opened. I was really impressed with the doctor and receptionist. I made an appointment by calling them at 760-420-0100. Also they have a website I think you can email them from there. http://www.TotalHealthClub.com It is worth checking out if you are within driving distance.
